The movements of indigenous communities always emphasize working together or as a family, since everyone is mobilized for a common and collective goal. The head of these communities is always the yaya mama or the authority who delegates the activity to be carried out.
All of them, according to their families, receive a type of work, either in the field, in textiles, or at home. None is more than another, they all fulfill a function that is valued by the collective.
The hierarchy within women's communities is so important, since they allow solving any type of problem, be it personal, neighborhood, even social justice without involving the State.
The women's communities are important in every micro society in Otavalo, since they highlight and make prevail the customs passed from generation to generation, which today we have seen undervalued by the intrusion of stronger cultures, without the contribution of the communities of women, it would be very likely the extinction of values, food, language, and customs.
